HOW TO ENTER

1. Eligibility and Registration

  • Open to all woodwind, brass, or percussion players in grades 8 through 12, who reside or study music in North Carolina or South Carolina.

  • When registering a 1,000 word essay about your thoughts on diversity in music and the impact diversity has on community is required.

  • Must be completed online no later than January 31st, 2025 at 11:59PM EST.

2. Selection of Solo with Band Accompaniment

  • Along with your band director and/or private teacher, please select a solo with wind band accompaniment that is available for purchase

  • No orchestral arrangements will be accepted.

  • If you need assistance in selecting a piece, please email ysc@charlotteprideband.org

3. Video and Score Submission

  • Due no later than February 28th, 2025 at 11:59PM EST

  • Must include:

    1. Your video (maximum of 15 minutes) of your performance with accompaniment.

    2. A copy of the score has to be uploaded if you complete the submission online. The score copies will be deleted after the audition evaluation. The recording becomes property of the Charlotte Pride Band and will not be returned.

  • You will receive written feedback on your video performance.

4. Winners Announced

  • All applicants will be notified of the results for 1st Place and 2nd Place by or on March 15, 2024. The first and second place winners will accept their awards and checks on May 4th, 2025.

  • The first place winner will receive $1000 and the second place winner will receive $250.

5. Performance

  • If you are selected for first prize, you will be required to:

    • Attend 3 Thursday evening rehearsals at Park Road Church (3900 Park Rd. Charlotte, NC 28209)

    • Attend the Dress Rehearsal (Location TBD)

    • Perform your piece on May 4th, 2025
