Dear CPB!

THANK YOU for your very productive sectionals led by our Liaisons and other leaders last night! I was incredibly inspired by your attention to detail, camaraderie and each of your leader's approaches. I am very excited to hear the fruits of your labor at our next rehearsal on Thursday!

Below is our detailed rehearsal schedule listing the specific areas and ideas for your practice in preparation for Thursday's rehearsal in red. Please take the time to practice these sections, listen to the links and take detailed notes in your music. See you on Thursday!

  • Location: Park Road Church

6:55 - Welcome and introductions of our new members

7:00 - FRALEY - Chorale No. 2 - EXPRESSION - Irish Tune

  • Dynamic contrasts - listen louder than you play and continue this throughout the rehearsal. The purpose of a warm up is to set the tone and atmosphere of the rehearsal, you you have been doing EXCEPTIONALLY at this!

7:05 - LO PRESTI - Elegy for a Young American

  • BEG-9 - Lyrical and connected playing with exaggerated dynamic and stylistic contrasts. Set your subdividing met on eighth notes at quarter note = 50.

7:25 - BERNSTEIN/DUTHOIT - West Side Story

  • 15-END - exaggeration of dynamic and stylistic contrasts, phrasing;  9-15 - rhythmic and stylistic accuracy

  • 2 before B-F; f before I-END - practice all flourishes and runs throughout the piece. Brass - practice sustaining your lines so they sound lush in the Parr Auditorium at CPCC. Set your met at quarter note = 60.

8:15 - COPLEY - Halcyon Hearts - O'Shae Best, Conductor

  • 87-148 - This will be in one - set your mets to quarter = 180 so you can feel the 3 quarter notes per bar.  Work on precision and exaggeration of phrasing and connecting all of the notes through this section.

8:25 - GIROUX - No Finer Calling - Integrity Fanfare and March, movement 1

  • ALL - Spot Checks - Practice with your subdividing mets on triplets at quarter = 120. Work on clarity of articulation and consistency of rhythm. Also work on exaggerating the phrases throughout.

  • ALL - Work on achieving a warm tone at all dynamics, dynamic contrasts and lyrical connected playing. Exaggerate each phrase.
